I own a 2012 air bag model that I purchased new and it has 21k miles and is still under factory warranty. While participating in a Patriot Guard escort I noticed a noise coming from the left radiator fan. It sounds as if the bearing is bad or it has leaves or something caught behind the fan & is not visible. I call my dealer's service department and talk to the Manager. He says, "if it is a bad bearing, warranty will cover the repair, but if it is leaves or something in behind the fan, it will be at my expense with no warranty coverage". I'm looking for opinions on this. What is your opinion of the warranty coverage?

Uh....er........

Get a good strong light and shine it in there, poke the fans with a stick, do you see leaves or a rock? Yes, well clean them out.

No.......well call the dealer. Tell them to fix it.

Leaves or any other debris that may be caught in the fan would be no fault of or under Hondas control so sounds correct to me.

If it was mine I would inspect and flush out the radiator with a low pressure water hose. If nothing is found or that does not solve the problem then at least you know there is nothing stuck in there that they can blame might have put stress on the fan as a possible reason to deny warranty coverage.
