Ordering parts from HDL right now. Is everyone replacing the lock washer between the 2 nuts as the manual says. Can you get it on HDL or do you have to go to the other place. Also cant you get the races in and out with a piece of pipe rather than the special tool. Thanks for help.

That's a lock-washer that you bend a cog over to lock it into the upper nut. Those are made of a metal that can be reuse (re-bent again). You should be able to reuse it.

That washer is one of those thing you want in your parts bin, but if the old one goes back on OK, great.

Getting the old races out is not too difficult, but properly seating the new ones takes some finesse. You do not have to have the special tool, but having the toool could be nice. Fred shows how you can do ot on his video series.
