How in the heck do you zoom in or out while using waze maps.

Use two fingers in a pinching motion? That's how it's done on the android app.

The screen on the 2018 is not a touch screen. Waze provides you with a zoom in and out function, but navigating to it though the four position switch is hit and miss, since the controls don't operate in an intuitive manner.
