We are planning a ride from Topeka, KS to Salem, OR and would like to know how late in the year it would be smart/safe to plan based on possibly hitting snow. TIA

Depending on the route you take Southern Route you should be good to go till about mid OCT, Taking the direct route across I80 or I 70 not so much Wyoming is a crap shoot when it come to snow I have seen snow there as late as July and as early Sept. Jut need to watch the weather and go for it,

All thing considered I would say that you would have a good chance of making it till sometime mid OCT, The later you wait the higher the chance of hitting some adverse road conditions.
