I know it sounds like a dumb question for all of you in the know, but my wife asked me the other day and the only thing I could think of was "Great Lover!" or maybe it was "Good Life" or "Get Lost?"
If it is a designator for something what is it?

If my memory serves...

GL = Touring Global On-Road Tourer
GS = Touring Global Off-Road Tourer

And yes, I have also heard: Grand Luxury

In the old days for cars, at least, it meant "Grand Luxus" meaning Grand Luxury. Just a thot......

What does GL in GoldWing models stand for.

GL means NOTHING... It is and was a "catch phrase" that is easy to remember.
A designator given by Honda at the time of design that has lasted almost 30 years. I have heard "Good Looking", "Grand Luxury", and several others. It can mean anything you want it to mean.

Come on guys. Everyone knows it stands for: Gotta Laugh.
We know how necessary a good sense of humor is when it comes to enjoying a ride, a GL get-together, or life itself.

Have fun. Take a ride.

Engine type

Doesn't Honda make all their bike "codes" according to the type of engine in them?

inline fours - CB's
V-twins - VT's
V-fours - VF's
Boxers 6 - GL

Don't even the two and four stroke dirt bike have that same style of designation?

just my memory........
