I have a 05 gl1800 and noticed the last few times I have pressed the starter and it sounds like a relay kicking in under the seat on the left side, I can let off the switch and press it again and the bike starts fine any ideas on this?

Ive heard a clicking noise on my 03 a few times, each time I hit the starter button again and it started. I think it was because I did not push the starter button in all the way.

Maybe you have done the same.

Ditto Red and Techdude. It is likely one of those 3 problems. I favor the bad relay or solinoid idea. Could also be a bad (or dirty) starter button, but not likely. Just a guess.

Ride safe.

ok thanks yes it sounds like some sort of a relay, and not the clicking of a dead battery, when I re push it the bike starts strong, I am going to take it in for a new tire so I think I will leave it and let them check it out, thanks for the feedback
