I have this 2009 with 175K miles that runs great. Sounds good until the temperature gets 1/2 way up then it starts to whistle. Consistant and steady even after reaching normal temps. This is way before the fans come on and even then they don’t change the sound. If given a little throttle up to 1000 rpm or above the sound goes away until engine is reduced back at idle.
Where to start to look and or spray something to see if it would be a vacuum leak? Almost like metal to metal except just adding a few rpm’s and it goes away. Makes me feel it may be vacuum, not metal.

Thanks in advance for any help

I'm thinking waterpump bearing...

Thanks, as it warms up it could be the one. Good starting point.

When I was re-assembling my engine after a out of frame repair I had a whisteling vacuum leak, it was the emissions canister directly under the front lower cowling. The culprit was a cracked vacuum line (the larger of the 2) I snipped it off reconnected it and no whistle. Might be worth a look.

Sorry I didn’t get back to all who replied. Yes it was the water pump. Replaced pump and all is well.
Thanks for the info
