We have a couple of companies here that supply those. They have a compressed air cylinder that blows the jacket up to "Michelin" man proportions. You clip the jacket to the bike with a lanyard, as you are ejected the jacket inflates so that you roll or should that be bounce along the road.

May be a problem if you forget to unhook before getting off normally. 8)
