Hi there Colorado!

My brother and I will be in Colorado for three days. We will arrive one day and then will have two FULL days to explore the Best Colorado has to offer. We will be camping and then the fourth day we will be heading home.

So, my question is: Would one of you fine Colorado Folk share with me a few "BEST" places to camp on a motorcycle (with tent) or places we should not miss while in your beautiful state?

We will arrive in the Denver/Aurora Area. We can use the two days to travel around etc... Was considering going to Pikes Peak, over some passes to Aspen etc.. if possible and up to the Leadville area as well.

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You!

David

Added info: I guess it would probably help to know when we plan to be there. We would be there the end of August. We will have hot and cold weather gear with us. Anything else?

Wingnutzz has a page put together showing maps of many cool rides in CO. I found the rockies Gold sites, but not his site. There are links somewhere here on the forum.

McClure pass(add Hwy 92 while you're at it), Million dollar highway(550) and Independece pass are not to be missed.

I have stayed @ this one a number of times, tent, camper and wing.

Cottonwood hot springs is down the road toward Buena Vista, well worth the soak after a day of riding or hiking.

This campground is near Cottonwood pass too.

I recommend SITE G near the river: http://www.reserveamerica.com/camping/Collegiate_Peaks_Co/r/campsiteDetails.do?siteId=8523&contractCode=NRSO&parkId=70044

Also, the Evergreen Cafe in Buena Vista has the BEST Huevos Rancheros I have ever had.: http://www.evergreencafebv.com/

I'll second this recommendation as a place to go that's very nice, but less crowded than the more famous spots, like Aspen.

Cottonwood Pass from Buena Vista to Crested Butte is a great Colorado ride, and less traveled. Note that a stretch of it near the top is dirt, but it's the Interstate of dirt, wide, pretty smooth. I've done it a few times on big bikes, solo and two up, although never in the rain. To me it's the easiest dirt pass in Colorado, and just a bit of an adventure.
