I would like to take the paved back roads from Yellowstone to Portland. Do you have any suggested routes?

The Bucket list for most riders includes Chief Joseph Hwy, Beartooh Pass & Lolo Pass, depending on the amount of time you have I would not pass the badlands, especially Needles Hwy with a trip through Custer State park. Caution, the black hills are busy in the summer months and especially so during the Sturgis Rally.

We enjoy Cooke City, 6 miles from the least used gate to Yellowstone (NE Gate, first to close and last to open), really off he grid.

Lolo pass (make sure you have gas, long way to walk)

You have listed some fantastic roads that I have ridden in the past. Most of them several times. What I'm looking for is something more laid back. Maybe something like this.

I just got back to Missoula from a ride and part of it sounds like it would be what you're looking for. From West Yellowstone, Mont. I rode down to Ashton, ID....US 20, Targhee Pass Hwy. From Ashton I went to Soda Springs, ID on about 3 state highways. Left Ashton on 32 I believe and there were 2 or 3 route changes on similar numbered routes before I got to Soda Springs. You'll have to check your map. For this part I used Google Maps on my iPhone to keep up with the changes. From Soda Springs I took 30 west and up to Blackfoot, ID. At Blackfoot take that road that goes to Arco and hook up with 93 to Salmon and on to Missoula. Absolutely great ride....laid back, beautiful mountain scenery since you'll be riding along the west side of the Tetons, very little traffic and in Missoula you're staged to ride 12 west over Lolo Pass on your way back home if you want.

Here's a better idea of what I was talking about above. Have fun and stay off the interstate with this :)
One small error on map below. Get off I-15 at Blackfoot to head for Salmon, not Idaho Falls.
