I have a 5 liter bottle of gear oil I bought for my scooter. I am wondering if it is OK to use in the Goldwing. The specification is SAE - 85 W 140 EP, API - GL-5

Looks like the GL-5 is covered, but I am wondering if the viscosity of 140 is too far out?

I learned on here a couple weeks ago that it needs to be a Hypoid oil, that is what the EP stands for, extreme pressure.

That oil is fine for final drive. It's an 85 weight oil, viscosity is concurrent with the weight, it's an Extreme Pressure rated, and it doesn't go bad by sitting in the bottle. Fill and go.

The final drive doesn't hold a lot -- so you can change it often
