You Got Me: twice converted, how do I get a decal?

I have had a motorcycle license since I was 16 and just turning 48 in two months. After owning several bikes, I bought a Harley Electra Glide Classic in 1988. Rode it until 2005 when I totalled it in Daytona. I bought another Electra Glide a week later. In 2007, I figured a way I could ride my bike to work everyday. This started the wheels turning. My first thought was to upgrade to an Ultra Classic. After pricing an Ultra Classic,
test riding an LT 1200 and a Goldwing, I bought an "08 pearl white wing with everything but an airbag. It costs way less than the Harley's I priced with the same features. Thus once converted. I never realized how ****ty a harley rode. Since then, I have added zumo 550, traxxion, ultimate seat, baker wings, etc. and now have 40,000 miles. Somehow I found this blog through direct line parts I think. After reading the dark sider blog for 6 months, I found a rear wheel on ebay for $100. Then 6 months or so later, after buying my 3rd rear tire for $250 installed, I had enough. The next day, I got on line and ordered a kuhmo from Tire Rack and found Dyna Beads locally. Now twice converted. The local Iron Horse dealer said they would mount, balance and install the tire for $75. But my frugal nature and what I have read on the blog told me this was too much. After watching the mechanic install my 3rd rear tire and reading some more blogs, I figured I could install the tire myself. Time was getting short, I only had 4 days until I was going to Daytona on the day I ordered my tire. But somehow I got it all done by Thurday noon and was leaving Friday 2/27/09 for Florida. I ended up using my motorcycle hauling trailer to get the bike in the air, some dish soap(I was cocerned that using grease may compromise the brakes) and in 30 minutes had the tire installed myself. I'll try to post some pictures of the trailer use if i'm smart enough to figure it out. I took it for a short ride Thursday and could not tell any difference than the MT. I left out Friday morning. It is now 3/06/09, 1600 miles later and I am loving it. I have 3-4000 miles left on the front and will be looking at going double darkside. Thanks for all who paved the way and posted the research. I hope to get many many miles from the CT as has been posted.

Well congrats and welcome to the forum and to the darkside, twice converted and twice welcomed !!

I can see that you don't do anything by half measures....

Well.. maybe the double dark thing but I'm sure you'll get there too !

Thanks for that great report, it always gives me a grin to hear the enthusiasm of new riders when it seems the whole "sane" world is against the use of "unsafe" CTs.

WHere 'bouts you from?
Out of Woodstock, Ga. Has anyone tried or researched using a different wheel balancing compound/beads. when i got my tire mounted on the rim for $8 at the good ole boy tire shop they had some called magnum force it was like 8-10 oz for 9-10 bucks and in stock always.

Send a S.A.S.E. and $5:00 for the decal. It comes in Black or Silver. Make sure you tell him what color. Look up Murgie on this board and he will give you a DarkSide number. Ride safe & Ride Proud.
Welcome to the club. You won't regret your choice. Have fun!
WhiteWing08,
Welcome to the darkside!!!
I also have the Kumho rear tire.
I did not have to use beads or sticky weights to balance my rear tire.
Does it feel like it is out of balance?
If it doesn't I wouldn't worry about the beads.
You can put them in if you want but I don't think you need them unless it's out of balance.
JMHO!!!

I agree with Ray. Mine was perfect when mounted, didn't need any weights. Check the balance before you add anything, you probably don't need it.
I could not find anyone to spin it. I just put 3oz in when mounting
Welcome

WhiteWing08, I came. I read. I bought. I like. :congrats:
