Does anyone know if the strap that holds the clutch resevoir is supposed to stay on the handlebars? And then the spacers,"Ram Mount" and new screws go through into the clutch resevoir? It appears that if you leave out the strap that the screws will be too long, but using the strap, the screws may be too short. Help! I am an idiot. No "backfires" on the idiot allowed...Lol

Remove the strap. The mounting hardware for the Zumo should bolt right in place. Garmin has mounting instructions on their website...

NO - do not remove the front half of the clamp that attaches to the reservoir - that needs to stay in place!

Simply remove the plastic cover over the bolts, place a piece of duct tape across the top of the reservoir halves to hold them in place, remove the two existing bolts, install the lock washers over metric bolts from the RAM parts bag (the finer-pitch of the two screw styles), slide the screws through the mounting slots of the RAM base, slide the spacers over the screws and then screw them through the front half of the reservoir cover.

Don't forget to remove the duct tape when you're done! :)

Jon,
I understood the "strap" in question was the cover over the bolts. Could be wrong tho...
