The windshield does make a difference in the gas mileage. The more shield you have up, the more fuel you will burn. If you have a larger than stock aftermarket that will burn even more.

With that said I usually adjust my shield up just enough to get clean air. Maybe 2-3" at most on the highway, of course unless it is raining. At 65mph I usually get from 52-55mpg, 70mph it is 48-52mpg, 75mph about 44-47mpg and 80mph around 40-43mpg.

The above numbers can be impacted by winds accordingly.
What are you riding? I have a 2023 Goldwing Tour with 16K miles and have seen in the 50MPG only once. That was with a massive tail wind!

Just completed 13K mile cross country run. 2023 Goldwing Tour, Manual transmission.
New Michelin Road GT tires. Windshield all the way down. 86 octane fuel.
Notice that ECON mode does not appear to increase MPG. Need more data.

No idea how others can get claimed, consistent mileage over 50 MPG!

Note, the following are calculated numbers, not what the Honda display shows. Found the Honda displayed numbers are optimistic;
Single rider at 55 to 60 MPH = 46.175 MPG
Two up riders at 70 to 80 MPH = 41.912 MPG
Two up riders at 65 to 75 MPH = 41.234

Definite outliers, but just to be complete;
Worst mileage with headwind; 37.488
Best mileage, likely with tail wind; 58.491

The PDF of my data spreadsheet will not attach to this post, so you cannot see the data.

If I want 50+ mpg, I keep it at 55. The windshield is definitely contributing to gas mileage but how much, who know, because it isn't me. My normal is 42-44 mpg if I am on my own, but with the wife it runs about 38 mpg. (Do NOT tell her I said that!) But I don't mind stopping for gas either. Walk around for a minute get a drink, then take off for another. I JUST got my new Russell Day-long seat though, and it may change my mind on wanting to stop whenever, along with the Mrs.

I've had my 18 DCT since May and now have 8k miles on it. Love the bike overall. I'm curious to your fuel mileage. I get 48-50 poking around town but when I'm on a 200-300 mile interstate trip the milage is 41 - 42 at 75 -80 mph
Not complaining just curious. Best gas money I've ever spent! After reading this I realized that I had left out I am running a 20" slipstreamer windshield in the full up position when on the interstate. Kinda like pushing a 1/4 sheet of plywood, I guess.
Here ya go, average mpg stats based on 37 DCT Wing owners.

Great to see the calculator / computer in use ... not so sure that the 3 decimal places on mpg , is matched by the accuracy of either the fuel dispenser or the trip meter ! People think I'm bad, when I tell them to 1/10 of an mpg ...........

Three decimal places are the receipt, so to be accurate, used that precision.

NOTE: Worked the spreadsheet and am surprised to tell, received 2MPG higher mileage when running in ECON mode. This is a manual 2023 Goldwing Tour.
