From what I have seen and heard, you could be very wrong. They were not targeting you and me but a whole different crowd. A lot of people are giving the bike high marks.

Although it is not for, I believe it will do well. Even my neighbor with a FXDSE thinks it's cool.

I like it, If were a single man, I would consider it.

I really like it.
But it would be too expensive for me to own, cause I'd have to add a lot of accessories. First would be a trunk, then a center stand, then some kind of add-on reverse gear. Oh yeah, gotta have my CB. And ABS too....

Oh....wait.....
:agree:

I can see a market for it, and would guess several Harley riders would switch. also Valkerie riders since they have been left out for a few years,

but

why in the world would Honda go to the extra trouble to remove cruise? Seems we are seeing more bikes come with cruise and here is one that works great and then they go to the trouble to take it off. I sure do not get the idea of that

the new F6B is not for me but I can see where it will gather a following

In the showrooms it looks sharp, and I think it will attract more female riders to GoldWings.

Mistake? I really doubt that. I think this may be one of Hondas brighter marketing moves!

I have less than zero desire to own one of these myself. I never did like the Harley bagger styling, and I think Honda trimmed too many features from the F6B, but as someone else said, Honda was not targeting people like me.
I suspect that their targeted demographic will put the F6B in high demand!

The F6B is, IMHO, clearly an attempt to kill a bunch of birds with one stone - a styling exercise. The first bird is squeezing yet more life out of an old platform with a minimal styling exercise. The second bird is trying to capitalize on the bagger craze with a minimal styling exercise. The third bird is trying to capture a younger buyer with a styling exercise. Is it a mistake? Frankly, I don't know, don't much care and don't give a squat about the F6B. Instead, I notice that Honda hasn't recognized the growth of the dual-sport market in the US (e.g., where is the Crosstourer). I also remember that Honda was a little late (about a decade or so) to the chopper party. BTW, it was SRO at the BMW dealer this weekend while the Honda place was like a morgue, except that a morgue would probably have been livelier and/or had more bodies. The first allotment of 2013 1200 GS models are due in and the kid just put a deposit down for one. We're moving into things with panniers, not bags, here.

I like the F6B and probably will get a Deluxe Black, this spring.

The F6B is a Goldwing Platform, but not a GL 1800, and can not be compared as such.

The F6B is coming from a proven platform and will compete with the many of the V-Twins of all brands on the market. Low maintenance, well priced, exceptional Honda presence across the States for parts and Maint and it is water cooled.

Though the GL 1800 is an exceptional machine, it is not for everyone ( I know, hard for some to believe). So Honda is giving you a choice between the Best touring machine on the market and a Perceived Best Cruiser on the market (yet to be proven).

A Green GL 1500 and a Green GL 1800 will share some similarities, but they are very different Motorcycles. So why are so many folks trying to compare the F6 and GL 1800 bolt for bolt? Different rides, different purposes!

Honda has not discontinued the GL 1800 production, but has offered another choice of Motorcycle for those that do not want a GL 1800, or have tired of the GL 1800. Riding styles, purposes and desires change through time. Why not offer a little something for everyone? It is OK not to like another persons choice for yourself, but where is it safe to be critical and non accepting of someone elses lawful choice for him/her self?

I think Honda done good and I am thankful for the offering. Now I have even more choices.

Respectfully,

Bulldog

I don't care for it either, and would never consider buying something like that. But to say that it was a mistake just because you don't like it is shortsighted.

This is something that owners have been asking for for 10 years, complete with Photoshop images and some actual custom builds. And they even went a little further with the idea. Since they were removing the trunk, they removed many other features as well, creating a Wing that costs a lot less than a full blown Goldwing.

I can't say if there is enough demand to justify it. Time will tell. Fortunately, decisions like that are Honda's problem, not mine.

They might also be testing the market to see if there is enough demand to justify a removable trunk on the next Wing.

Agree completely. I think it's ugly and would never buy one - BUT - Others like this style of bike and it gives then another choice... maybe even a better choice since it's a Wing. Choice really is a great thing.
