80% Tour owners are adding racks?
Where did you come up with that statistic?

Based on my unscientific observations on 2018+ Tour owners I would say it’s way less than 50%
Regardless, it’s mighty ugly and a dirt trap if you don’t want a rack......I’ll keep my nice smooth 2019 trunk lid.
Top of my head, but I can't imagine Honda added them without some strong pushback from owners - and from dealers, who probably install the majority of racks. So it would be a pretty good number.

Personally, I am happy that they rolled out a new model with upgraded features. I dont mind the blacked out version of the Tour and that new gray is kinda cool on the Non Tour.....so if I hit the lottery, I am in for a new Tour DCT at $29k + list price. But getting back to reality, what this does for me is (hopefully) opens up the used market of 18-20's that may be more in abundance and affordable.

Some nice refinements Honda, I agree we need more cool bold and bright colors.

For me personally I don't get the fixation some have on needing to fit 2 helmets in the trunk, when my wife n I tour the trunk is full of our stuff for the trip, do folks wanting to fit 2 helmets ride with an empty trunk so that they'd have a place to store helmets?

Exactly..... that’s the Dairy Queen configuration.......

Now we all have one more thing to argue about.

Thanks Honda.

I think one thing that folks are missing about new rack mount is that it allows you to install a rack for a trip, and then when you get home take it off and reinstall the panel plugs. I never much cared for having a rack on my trunk lid, but there are times on a trip where I could use one to store a few small items. With the old way of mounting a rack, you had to drill holes, so once you put it on, you really could never take it off again. This new mounting method now allows you to remove it and not have huge holes in the middle of your trunk. I think it was a smart move by Honda.

The center high mounted tail light on the spoiler also had a problem with the groment that would never fit into the hole properly, so this will probably solve that problem as well.

Agree 100%.....
Never used the trunk to store helmets.......short stop they sit on the seat, longer stop I use my LidLox.
I always have "stuff" in the trunk anyways, long trip or not.

That reasoning makes a lot more sense...... (y)

I am looking for opinions on a new purchase. I was holding off waiting to see what 2021 would bring. Now that I see that the changes are superficial and the price up $800, I am considering trying to find a 2020 Tour DCT if I can get a deal over a 2021. But my thinking is what kind of deal is the tipping point $1k, 2k. I can afford it either way but the question is if they don’t drop the price significantly on a leftover (define significant, right? $5k?) then why not get a current model year.

I welcome any thoughts you may have.

This may be a stupid question but I'm going to ask it anyway. Is the trunk itself reshaped, or just the trunk lid? If its just the trunk lid, can it be retrofitted to a 18-20 wing??
It has to be a wider trunk, given the extra width shown in the photos, with two full-face helmets side-by-side and a big gap between them, p
I do like the metallic black model. Course I'm partial to that color.
I have a 2019 in Darkness Black Metallic - and it is stunning! I hope the new color is similar, because it is such a nice black, with just the right amount of metalflake in it...

totally agree on the trunk. the reclined passenger position interests me more. my wife would be more comfortable. bluetooth updated to the latest version and adaptive headlights would make me strongly consider trading in.

Its so you dont have to drill holes in the trunk lid to install a rack...I would rather drill the holes if I wanted a rack and have a smooth trunk lid if I didn't...just another example of Honda trying to fix a problem where there wasn't a problem.
I have a 2018 DCT Standard with similar covers on the rear shelter for mounting a rear luggage rack. When you remove the covers this exposes the underlying metal support structure designed to take the load of the rack. You actually drill holes in the covers, snap the covers back in place and install rack mounting bolts through the holes.

I had seen isolated reports of 18 thru 20 rear case top covers cracking around drilled luggage rack mounting holes (the plastic top cover takes all the load). Seeing the removable covers on the 2021 top case leads me to believe that Honda has provided a durable (probably metal) underlying support structure to bolt a rack to if you choose.

I wonder if they moved the rear trunk back an inch or two allowing the passenger use of the entire rear seating area? We went with the 18 Standard DCT because my girlfriend wanted the extra passenger room available on long trips.
They DID !! And, the pasenger seat backrest angle has been adjusted too for more comfort. Something like the current 17 degrre angle to a 22 degree angle ?? Something like that. That area is also higher allowing more of one's back to be resting on it.
I have not seen confirmation that Honda actually moved the top case rearward on the 2021. If anyone has confirmation to this can you provide a link? Thanks.
