I have seen pictures of the Goldwings with a windscreen wiper, but never how they were activated.
I was under the impression these were only available in Japan.
Here is a picture of the bike with the controls.
This control section is in a similar housing to the CB radio controls here in America.
Does this mean that if you had a windscreen wiper on your bike, you could not install a CB radio?
Was the wiper an accessory for the 5th Gen Goldwing?
Here are the two pictures.

I don't think that Honda's wiper system is available as an item that could be added. But I know there is someone that made wiper systems for Goldwings (pre 2018) in the US. I saw and talked with someone about one on my last hurrah with ewma as a Colorado "ride in" a couple years ago. He rides in the rain enough and is not able to look over the windshield, so a wiper was a bit of a need for him. I don't remember exactly what the controls looked like.

I know a guy who put the OEM wiper on his USA Gold Wing. He got the parts from Japan. I don't think he has the washer fluid sprayer with it though and I don't know what he uses to operate it. He does have a CB.

The third lever seems to be unused as well. Maybe they can be used for some aftermarket gadgets.

I remember the factory wipers on the Gen 4 1500's. I was told it was only available in Japan and was in fact, mandated over there. Remember, Goldwings were made in the USA at the time. Apparently Japanese road rules (JDM) say that any windscreen (on any vehicle) that you look thru must be fitted with a wiper.

Honda went to great lengths to install the wiper and washer system on the Goldwing. Harley Davidson on the other hand, simply sawed the top 3/4 of the windscreen off. Which is why you see HD touring bikes with those ridiculous 4" high windscreens today.

I haven't seen any Gen 6 Goldwings fitted with wipers. Maybe being able to lower the screen electrically gets around the rules.

I apply a good coat of wax, (every time I wax my bike) to the windshield... This way, the rain water, just rolls off the shield, keeping the view clear.. Try it, cause it works :giggle:...............I just got home from a long trip last week, and it rained two out of the four days of riding, and my shield stay'd nice and clear................ My ride'n partner cried the whole week, cause his shield was hard to see through.....

I can’t imagine a plastic windscreen lasting very long with a wiper system. ….. I prefer to look over a windscreen in the rain. If I was too short to do that I would get a shorter wind screen or maybe a booster seat….😁

Its is interesting how different countries have different solutions to the same problems with associated regulations.
