Motoport Kevlar Mesh
Hi Robeth!
Thanks for the comment. I am honored that I contributed something to your riding experience. I have always enjoyed reading your knowledgeable posts.
I drifted off for awhile, maybe a bit of overload.... and FWIW I am sorta back. Not a lot changes here. My biggest question would be... why did Fred get a new bike? His old one had Ubber miles but who keeps a bike up better than "himself".
As for the Motoport Kevlar Mesh jacket and pants.......I feel so lucky that I came across them 6 years ago. You know I wrote that piece on webbikeworld which compared Aerostich to Motoport and I think Wayne's business took off. If you google Aerostich that article comes up about #2 or 3. Must still be costing Andy bucks, yet, the deficiencies in the product remain. He won't change anything. The BMW guys keep him going and Motoport is a speck on his radar screen although I get the impression more and more guys are looking into Motoport Kevlar mesh and making the investment. Can't go wrong. I do not put FRISKY in gear without being fully attired in my kevlar mesh jacket and pants, and yes guys, it is 100% kevlar and NO ONE else has this.
Robeth, here is something you might not know about motoport, they have a relatively new upgraded armor package they developed for the Hong Kong PD that is a meaningful improvement over the already extremely good armor on the kevlar mesh gear. The upgrade is not inexpensive, nothing they make is, however, as you know, if you are lucky, you get what you pay for and with Motoport I think it is safe to say their kevlar mesh product over-delivers.
Breaks my evil heart to see all these guys talking about the vastly inferior gear out there and thinking that it will protect them in the worst of all situations. Spend the money now guys or spend it for skin grafts later. I think it's safe to say the former is a better deal than the latter.
For any other Motoport gear owners: check out their upgraded armor package. It can be retrofitted into your existing gear. I really like mine. A noticeable difference and well worth the incremental bucks.
