Hello All!

One our gang has a 1500 and is trying to find a way to hook up a MP3 player into his stock sound system :? .

Does the 1500 have an Aux plug similar to the one on the 1800?

Does anyone have a suggestion for us?

Thanks and happy trails!

Hi, Stuart

Only the early 90's Interstate offered the aux, in lieu of a tape player. That was a smart thing they offered, for the time. For an aux installation, check out BJ's link:

There's other options, too, like Kennedy, and Sierra. They offer to do the aux install, and/or a kit. I should be doing these retro's, but, there always seems to be someone that will botch the install of radio or switch, and burn the garage down, or some such. So, i just decided to stay away from dealing with the public, as I don't have deep pockets.

I've done quite a few of them, and it's a big improvement. Some players have a weak output, so there's a need for an inline pre-amp, such as a Boosteroo, or something along those lines. I built a "Headbanger" for my 2 bikes, and it works very well. Just Google that. It's on the Mini-disc site. I've thought about building the relay board, like Jon's, along with the "Headbanger" circuit, but have gotten lazy, lately.

Kennedy has a real nice little board with relay mounted on it. I'd say that's the way to go for a do-it-yourselfer.

I hope this helps. Bob

I used one of those tape deck converter tapes to plug mine in. Less than $20.
You can also use an FM modulator as my son in law did.

You can send the radio to Electrical Connection and they will install an aux in right to your radio. I'm sure that is gonna be a tad more $$$$.

I used a tape converter I bought off ebay for less than $10. Worked great, and not static from a FM modulator.

I used a inline modulator like what is used with a CD changer, It plugs into the antenna line, and controlled by a switch. I think mine is from Clarion. You have to look for them, try a place that installs stereos, I got mine from Frys electronics, and I had to look for it, if anyone is interested, I'll get the model # off of mine.
I have used the FM modulator, but the inline is much better.
