Yes, it finally arrived today instead of the scheduled last Friday. As I was planning on giving it a good workout over the weekend. Not a big deal as I have plenty of time to enjoy it. I tried to get it from the Cycle Gear store near me, but that didn't work out. So I searched and found Speed Addicts had my size in stock and jumped on it.

First impression, I really think I'm going to like it. Very comfortable with plenty of room around the ears, which should make installing speakers somewhat easier and getting them properly aligned. The chin strap connection is going to take some getting used to as I've used D-Ring all my life. Other than that, the real test is going to be real world riding in all conditions, especially rain, to see how it performs. And most important to me, how quiet will it be? I tried installing the Pin-Lock shield, but gave up as I didn't want to force it and break something. This will be a challenge for another day.

And I really want to thank @Fred H. and @Zee Fifty for giving me the inspiration to get one of these fancy new fangled modular helmets. There input from another thread was extremely valuable in selecting this model.

I have to say that the carbon fiber looks so much better in person than it does on the net.

I'm curious how you'll make out with this helmet as well.
For decades I have been using Shoei helmets, love their Neotec line, but they are pricing themselves out of the market.
This LS2 helmet has caught my attention as it seems to do more than my shoei and I would love to try one.
So far I don't think any dealer near me has any in stock, and I have no idea how their fitment is.

Looking forward to hearing how yours work out.

Thanks. I'm definitely a Shoei fan as well and have two right now. I have a Shark modular as well, which is really good. All these helmets have exceed 5-years and it is said that one should replace a helmet that is over that age. I'm excited about the LS2 and had the opportunity to try them on at Cycle Gear. I originally wanted the helmet in Titanium, but it wasn't available, so carbon it is.. Ironically, there was a Cycle Gear under 10-mile from me that I never knew about for years.

I'm strictly a Cardo fanboy and I'm sticking to it. But, I most likely will use different drivers than the JBLs. It all depends on how well I can fine tune the acoustics for optimal sound. We'll see.

I started an 11 day trip this morning with mine. First day and I can say I nailed the fit. It’s great fitting helmet for me. I’m riding mine with the dark shield installed. I really like having both dark shields deployed in bright days. This helmet makes that possible in both the 3/4 and full face configurations, I don’t have to wear sunglasses at all. My eyes are sensitive. Very quiet helmet for me. The top vent is noisy unless you throttle back the wind with your windshield height. On a naked bike the top vent would likely get noisy. It moves a lot of air inside the helmet.

So far I’m happy happy happy.

When you shop for a helmet it’s Fit Fit Fit…. In that order, don’t buy a helmet unless it a good fit regardless of the features.

I liked the looks of it more so than the few ounces of weight savings. In the thread I referenced above @Zee Fifty has pictures with weight comparison between different brands. My first color choice was Titanium, but settled for carbon fiber. It was an excellent choice. :)

My size is XXL and that was determined by trying on multiple sizes at Cycle Gear. You'll know it when you put the right one. For me there was a very noticeable difference between sizes, especially in the cheek area.

Crabballs,
I would definitely go for the LS2 Cardo 4x intercom, the helmet is fully designed to integrate it well, no point in having an intercom hanging off the side, universal cables hanging around etc etc.

Question,
How is the fit/size between a Shei and LS2?
What size (year & model) Shoei helmets did you use and have, and what size LS2 is this Advent? (you mentioned this is a xxl LS2 advent x carbon correct?)

Reason I ask is, no one around here has these on the floor, all I have by is online size charts and my previous helmets.
I tried ordering helmets online using size charts, and returned them all, none fit correctly.

I'm starting to lean that way when it comes to the Cardo. I just want to find some online instructions/video to see what the installation entails. I do have some concerns about that little USB dongle that hangs and would need to be tucked between charges. I'm sure the install is extremely easy and straight forward, but would like to see what everything looks like under the hood.

Both my Shoei helmets, a GT Air and Qwest, are both manufactured in 2016 and are XL. The LS2 is XXL and all three helmets fit as they should and are comfortable. In a post above, @Fred H. mentioned about going up one size. I inadvertently and unintentionally did that without thinking or by sheer luck just by simply trying on a the display helmets Cycle Gear had.

It's seems like they are using the buttons on the controller that will be on the left side of your helmet once installed. Here's a YouTube video that explains basic functionality.

I love the design of this helmet, being able to switch from open face to full face with one hand while riding. I bought an LS2 Valliant 2 helmet with this design last year. It is heavy, and a little snug (size XXL) but I thought it would break in and fit fine. NOT. Horrible headache after 30 minutes of riding. I understand the new Advant version is a little lighter but, as stated earlier, it's all abouth the fit. I have a long oval head and these are designed for an intermediate oval head shape. I sold it on Facebook and went back to my LS2 Strobe modular helmet. A little lighter and designed for my head shape. Size XL, and all-day comfortable, if a little warm in the summer heat.

Thank you for a great assessment of this homer. I am a Neotech user and love them specially for the integrated Sena communication system but I was riding with a group a couple of weeks ago and first time seeing this helmet and caught my.
keep us posted in the long distance or long hours riding comfort
i am also assuming the weight of the helmet being carbon fiber is much less then a conventional helmet?

Post #66 in this thread gives the weight of the various LS2 Advant helmets.

I just got the Pinlock shield installed. Nice and clean and even shot some nitrogen in there to prevent fogging between shields. The silicone bead they put on the shield should, hopefully, keep that super dry nitrogen in place. Now I'm just waiting for that rainstorm we're supposed to have so I can test it. :)

My first preliminary test was good. The rain was moderate to light, which was a disappointment for the test I really wanted to conduct. The crosswinds were horrendous and added to the fun with the windshield all the way down. At 55-60 MPH on the open highway with crosswinds and rain, the Pinlock performed as advertised with no fogging and visibility good. And the wind noise was about the same or to a slightly less degree compared to the Shoei GT-Air. For a modular helmet I think this is good news. With the windshield full up, the wind noise is all but gone. Definitely a lot better than the Shark. The ultimate test for me is how well it performs in a heavy downpour. Looking at the weather radar we might have one in a few hours. So far, color me impressed!

The Cardo came early and I got it all charged, updated, and installed. I must say that this was probably the easiest install I ever had. The speaker pockets are nice and deep and ready to accept the JBL speakers. I did add headphone cushions to direct the sound to where it needs to be, your ears. This also cuts down on road noise as well. One note, Cardo ships this to default to Bass Boost in the Audio Profile menu, which is totally unnecessary with the cushions as bass is excellent. Set the Audio Profile to High Volume to get a flatter more accurate response curve that cuts down on distortion since you're not wasting that power overdriving the bass. The benefit is a lower volume setting that yields a much cleaner accurate sound. Here a few pictures of the install.

Control unit adhered to the helmet. The controls are easy and straight forward. I just have to get my muscle memory to adjust as I'm so used to Packtalk Bold.

Here's one of the JBL speakers with the headphone cushion installed.

And speaker covered with the helmet liner flap. It doesn't seem to affect sound quality and I'm not sure if I want to leave it as is or cut it off.
Image

And finally, the USB dongle set in an extremely secure location that doesn't require tucking and untucking when needed. It's on a good angle that allows the USB cable to be plugged in and not touch the flat surface the helmet is set on while charging. The last thing you want to do is damage the USB socket.

OK folks, I had the opportunity this morning to put on 190 miles with the new helmet and Cardo. Took a nice ride to get a Southern Maryland Stuffed Ham sandwich and pick up a nice load of country sausage, and of course more stuffed ham. One amazing thing I noticed with the LS2, the air flow with the vents open is amazing compared to the Shoei GT-Air. You can actually feel the air circulating and keeping your head cool. Comfort was nice, so that made the ride so enjoyable. This was on a 92° full sun day. So, fit and finish is just right for me. I think I'm falling in love with this helmet!

I finally got mine yesterday, in Gloss White!! Love the fit…waiting for my other store to get the LS2 Cardo in!
FYI I work for a Powetsports store that has 3 locations. The Parts Manager @ 1 store had both the LS2 Advants and HJC I100. He sold out on the LS2’s in 2 months and no longer orders the HJC’s! Our other store had the same but both sold the same!

Nice!! The XXL helmet I tried on at Cycle Gear was white. It's definitely a nice looking helmet in that color. Congrats on getting it. I don't know why they don't offer more colors. I know they made a glossy carbon, but I don't think they do any more. I'm happy!!

Sure can. If you already have the speakers, mic and cable you are good to go. Very easy!!

Since I use both the Cardo and wired connection at the same time or independently for navigation and two-way radio communications, I had to incorporate both into one system.

As you can see, I am using a hidden mic (The little one that came in the box) that I placed into the cheek pad strictly for the Cardo. The boom mic is strictly for the two-way radio. Both share the same speakers. The audio quality is excellent on both the Cardo for phone calls and for talking on the two-way. I'm seriously thinking about eliminating the boom mic and burying another mic in the cheek pad.

I only wear white helmets, because they keep my gourd coolest in summertime. There's a world of difference in heat, comparing black and white. Silver is almost as cool as white, but not quite

After 30 days, I think it's time to give you guys an update on the helmet and Cardo. The more I wear it the more comfortable it has become, so I think either the helmet is broken in, or maybe it's my head. The air flow has been good in keeping my head cool under Maryland's oppressive heat. Overall, it doesn't even feel like I have a helmet on, even on long rides. For comfort, fit and features, this helmet has been a winner for me. My only complaint is that damn latching system they use on the strap, it sucks and I wish they'd stuck with D-Rings! Even after a month I still can't find the stinken hole on the first try. Maybe a little hair would help? :D

Now for the Cardo. I think I'm happy! I finally got the startup timing down 90% connectivity. Timing is everything, so I figured out that after I start the bike the Vantrue F1 dashcam starts automatically with a beep. I power up Cardo at that exact moment and it's been hitting the mark almost every time and going right into Android Auto. That nightmare is behind me, thankfully. I think the audio quality is a step up from the Packtalk Bold, but this might be partly due to the extra depth in the helmet's speaker pockets. Everything just lined up perfectly with my ears. I did opt to fold over the cloth flaps as that yield a better seal to my ears and headphone cushions. For comparison, the LS2/Cardo system has a volume setting of two bars on the bike's voluime control. Comparing that to six bars using my Shoei/ Cardo Packtalk Bold. This is the perfect lever for comfortably enjoying music and navigation. Oh, and don't even think about turning the volume all the way up. I did it accidently and it is painfully loud. I wonder if Cardo put a slightly more powerful amp in the LS2 unit. I think the LS2 4x is going to be a keeper eventhough first impression was a real letdown and pushed my patience to the limt.

I have had my Advent Carbon X now for 5 weeks. I rode it 4500 miles in that 5 weeks. For me this helmet is a dream come true. Like you I was cussing at the buckle. I have to admit, it took me quite a while to get it latched a few times. I finally learned how to do it consistently without frustration. The helmet is a little more complicated to learn how to use. Top center tab on the face shield was hard to get used to. It’s weird when riding in 3/4 mode with the face shield down and it starts to rain, you grab your chin bar and pull it down and your face shield raises. Then you have to lower that. I don’t think it works in the rain as well as my Shuberth C4 did. If the face shield is cracked to get fresh air in the rain it’s seems to let in some rain. I’m not a big rain rider so that is not a big issue for me.

It’s a winner in my book. I really like it. It’s great to have and open face and full face out on the road on big trips in various weather conditions. It’s a great concept.

You definitely described the experience perfectly! I'm in total agreement as it blows away my Shark, and is much better than the Shoei I have. The buckle is definitely going to be a battle of wills and I'm going to eventually win the battle. It's hard to break decades of muscle memory using the D-Rings, but this helmet is definitely worth a minor inconvenience. The center tab is fine, it took a bit to get used to, but I kinda like it now. Did you install your Pinlock shield? I did, and I find it works really well in preventing fogging in mild rain. I have yet to get caught in a major downpour, so I really didn't get to test that aspect yet like I really want to. I enjoy riding in the summertime rain. I did look at the Shuberth line, but the chin-guard nesting on top of the helmet is a deal breaker for me.

On a side note,I did buy extra shields to have on hand just in case. I already got one minor scratch on the original shield so I got that out of the way.

Agree, it's a winner!! I can't thank everyone that recommended this helmet enough, you guys are great!!

Thank you very much for the update,
I am definitely going to give this one a try myself, same combo as you have (LS2 + Cardo combo)

My challenge will be to find anyone in the province that has these in stock so I can check on sizing. The closest one I see right now is about 7hrs round trip, just to go helmet sizing, and I'm not sure if I'd be a XL or XXL size, and they only have the XL in stock....

Plus, I think I'd like a white helmet for hot weather riding.... and those seem to be un-obtanium right now (at least in Canada)

LS2 has I think only 2 shell sizes and fit is done by different inner lining. Cycle-gear had the lining for like $20 for my LS2 Valiant (Gen 1) . XXXL was the slimiest lining, but I still did not like it (may be I have a big noggin). I got pouty lips and duck face when I wore the helmet ... , so I undid the stitches and cut out more of the sponge... now I am relatively happy ...

I love the convenience of 180 flip back lid when I ride slow in back roads.... so I live with these minor inconveniences...

So you can get and XL, if its too tight, one option will be to go chop chop till you are happy ...

LS2 advertised these helmets before they actually had them available. I've been told that its going to be about a month before they can actually start shipping them.

I think you can find the Carbon model a few places, but the regular AdventX is apparently on backorder everywhere.

I just bought a Matte Black Advant X in Large. The place I bought it from (in person) still has a Medium and XL if anyone is interested. Since they are at the end of the season they knocked down the price from $430 to $380. Not sure if they ship.

I only rode for about 30 minutes, but so far I dig it. I did spend a lot of time installng both of my headsets (Sena 50s and Cardo Packtalk Black). This helmet is not great for installing the clip-on style com mounts. It does have a space for the optional "made-for-this-helmet" Cardo unit, so I kind of used that area to put the clip in there and some cabling. I did have to cut a little bit of the plastic trim (not the shell) to fit the clip-on mount (and it's still not 100% flush but pretty close).

I used the adhesive mount to get the Cardo mounted a little higher and further back from the Sena. It's a very tight area with the 180 degree chin bar all the back, but I was able to fit it. I used a Y-cable in order to run both headsets simultaneously. That way, if I'm leading a ride, I can connect to all riders using Mesh in both Cardo and Sena so everyone can hear me, but the riders won't be able to converse with the opposite brand...yet. I'm working on that.

I'll get some photos of the setup tomorrow.

Newer Cardo models now connects to Sena over the BT intercom channel (check youtube video that Cardo put out) Install the Cardo on the helmet, keep the Sena in your pocket....

Older units had to connect as second phone to Sena. And then Sena had to turn on the bridge mode.

Connect Cardo to Sena, and , then I think you need to tune on bridge mode on both Cardo and Sena, now everyone can talk to each other... and you just have 1 unit on your helmet.

Note: the sound quality degrades on Sena if any one is connected on the BT channel.

You will have to experiment a little.

I don’t like dark Shields and as of now they only have dark and Smoke for the outer shield!! I prefer the yellow because I can see at night if it comes to that. HOWEVER….for the inner you can get this one
To change out! Not sure why LS2 doesn’t have this listed but if you look closely it’s the same one that fits the ADVANT! LS2 Amber Inner Drop Down Sunshield for Infinity II Helmets 04-338 | eBay

Great tip! Thanks. I stick with clear for the outer shield and bought extras. My helmet came with a smoked outer shield as well, but I'm not sure I will ever use it. I've been using the inner smoked one regularly and find it works really well. The amber one you posted looks like a great option and I will probably get one to try.
