MBL Handlebar riser
I'm about to tackle the handlebar riser install tomorrow. Never been in a wing, lots of other bikes. Any words of wisdom when installing these bar risers?
I'm looking for a bit more comfort in my reach and back position.

Thanks,

Jim

Installed mine last week in about an hour and rode 1100 miles over my 3.5 day weekend. Longest stretch was 360 miles, only stopping for fuel. Love them because I feel so much better after long rides.

MBL risers are one of the best available. Have them on my '06. Very well machined parts and fit perfectly.

(Don't know what a previous poster's problem with them was, but perhaps an install issue? Also, there's both a Standard and Tall Rider version of the MBL risers. Maybe the fit was wrong for him?)

As another poster mentioned, you need to come up with a little slack on the throttle cables.

Here's a picture of what I did on mine to accomplish that:

From the factory, the throttle cables are routed through that wire loom on the bike. You can get just enough slack in the cables for the risers if you connect a large cable tie like I show in the picture to that wire loom, and route the throttle cables through the cable tie instead of the wire loom.

Worked great. No problem with the throttle cables binding.

Also, I cut out the plastic fork tube cover that comes on the bike to fit with the risers installed (the instructions show how to do that). Some folks just throw that piece out, but I wanted to keep it. Here's a pic of mine showing that:

This is the left side. You can see where I cut that plastic piece to fit around the riser after it's installed. You can see that piece on the right side in the first picture, I'm holding it up with a screwdriver.

Hope that helps.

The risers work great for me-- brought the handlebars to a more comfortable position for me with my shorter arms.
fluke thinks just because HE can reach the handlebars in the stock position, that no one needs to adjust them to a different position.

Nice

I didn't cut the fork - tree cover, jus found longer screws and screwed it down tight. Works and looks fine.
My risers brought bars in almost perfectly except the hand position is narrower and takes getting used too.
As far as I'm concerned the bars were too narrow as well as too low to start with.Awkward angle for the wrists with the stock position.I'm going with risers that move the bars out as well as up.

I like the position of my handlebars with my stock seat. I am waiting on the delivery of my Mustang seat to see how much moving me back and lowering the seating position effects my reach. If I do need to add the risers, I definitely want the version that keeps the bar position wide. I find myself using the bar weights as grip position now and cannot imagine bringing the grip position inward.

I put the MBL Tall risers (Keeps stock width) on last week. My mustang seat will be hear Monday. I put the risers on in anticipation of the Mustang seat moving me back.

I know this a seven year old post.

I am going to be installing the MBL wide risers sometime in the near future. Any updated thoughts/suggestions/ideas?

I am 6'1" with proportionally long arms, but still find the stock bars to be too low and possibly too far forward. Getting pain in my shoulders (traps and deltoids) after long rides. I think these will help. I do not need them to move up and back much.
