Some time after Memorial Day I will be visiting the Vietnam Memorial in DC. Where can a motorcycle park near that site?

Lots of parking on the streets around the memorial. Lots of bikes park on the very end of the street in front or behind the last car. Lots of bikes park on the sidewalks too, but mostly scooters. You should have no problems.

In 2000 I parked in DC next to the Wall memorial in a marked legal parking spot per the post 4' from the spot I parked in. Went and paid my respects. Came back and found a ticket on the bike along with 4 cars in front of me. In the middle of the block was a sign that said " bus parking only form 1000 AM - 0600 PM. Sign was no place near the spots we parked in. At least 60 - 70' away from the first spot in the middle of the block. Guy behind me said, screw them, this is a parking trap and DC has no reciprical agreement with other States because it is a district, not a state. I ignored the ticket and about 1 yr later got a letter saying that I owed XXX amount plus XXX for interest. I ignored that and a year later got a letter stating that it was sent to a collection company. I ignored that and never had any action from my state. Another 6 mons went by and I got a letter saying that if I was found in the DC area on my bike with plate XXX, bike would be impounded and sold for the ticketcost and I would be arrested. I wrote back and thanked them for making sure I would never visit that scum hole called DC again on THAT bike. Be careful on the signs. They seem to be as sneaky as NYC with their 10 signs on one pole. By the time you read all of them and figure them out, it is time to leave....
