I stopped by the Shroeder's Honda booth at Wing Ding to look at the custom green Goldwing and the copper F6B. I was shocked by the poor quality of the paint. It was even worse than Honda's factory paint! The finish was dull and loaded with orange peel. I am not sure if anyone else took the time to look at the paint, but I would never pay extra for a paint job like that.

What would a great paint job cost?

If I were to get a new Wing and wanted the color changed, I would want a great first rate paint job with a few clear coats. I wonder what a custom paint shop would get for it? Labor to remove and paint and reassemble can't be cheep. Anyone care to take a guess...

Honda of Russellville AR seems to have gotten it right on their bikes.

I think the reason for that is -They are a lot further away from the EPA than Schroeder's is

Sorry, Hokie, but distance from the EPA has nothing to do with the quality of a paint job. Even the best of painters
will get orange peel sometimes. That's what block sanding and polishing are for. To send a motorcycle to a national
gathering with an inferior paint job is just sad.

To heck with 'sad', it is really counter-productive....

"Hi! Look at the cr__py paint job we want to use for marketing!"

You would probably be looking at $800 just to remove and re-install all the tupperware. And, with all the pieces to be painted, the polished, there's no telling how much a good paint job could cost. Minimum $2000 would be my guess. I had a gas tank and 2 side covers painted for a 1975 CL360 and it was $900.

E-You've ridden my bike so you know he paint quality.

My two toned paint job cost me $1700 & $300 shipping both ways. I pulled and reinstalled my parts. 2 days off 2 days back together.

The smooth as glass paint job is 4 years old and still looks like a new bike. It was one of the last things Tony of Road Trip Essentials painted before he had to shut down.

Orange peel in any paint job is just plain unattractive no matter what it costs.

I bought my trike new at Russelville AR. It started out as a black bike but 80 of the color was changed before it every had a mile on it. I haven't noticed any problems with my paint and think they did a great job.
