Mine is left to dangle, but I hit it with electrical spray contact cleaner before each use.

 

Mine isn't long enough to be seen without bending over. I just let it dangle.

 

When I used to tow with my bike, it dangled. It had a rubber cap to cover the prongs.

 

I have a cap (sealed up mate without wire) that I keep on the 9-pin round plug (not standard trailer) under the saddlebag and have a pigtail to go between the bike and trailer that will connect either separated turn and brake leads or combined turn and brake (required for 4-wire trailer). I have a pigtail for a flat-4 and one for square 6 (currently on my Tailwind). So, that leaves nothing hanging.

Here is two FB photos of what I did for the electrical connection. I imported the once crome conectors from cyclemax and made a monting bracket to hold is securely in place .
The other two pronged plug is for my frige and the hidrotic disc brakes pneumatic actuator.

Parden the durty bike , its used daily.

 

The wiring for my trailer is mounted on a bracket bolted to the license plate.

 

When not pulling the trailer, I drop the hitch and tuck the pigtail (capped) up inside the receiver hitch. That way any moisture that would happen to get to it, is prevented by the cap and even that is open end down so water won't "stand" at the joint.
completely out of sight, completely protected.

 

Exactly what I do with mine.

 

I have a dummy plug (cap) I install and I tuck the harness up behind the fender.

 

Mine has a cap connected to the plug. I run the cap through the safety chain hole on the hitch then put the cap on the plug. It's held up out of the way by the loop between the cap and the plug.

 

I made a second Connector up and behind the rear fender. j only use that connector when pulling a trailer so my harness is not on the bike when not pulling a trailer. I use a dummy plug to cover the connector. I takes me 10 minutes to install the harness or take it off.

 

When first seeing the title, I thought this was going to be a boxers or briefs discussion. 🤪

 

I wire tie it with plastic tiny bag around it to the back frame.....Why let it dangle and swing around, that's a good way to get a broken wire................

I thought y'all were talking about the trailer wire itself. My bike has the type connector @Sakkiesout's bike had. (Pardon the cut and paste of his photo to show my point.)

There's nothing on my bike to dangle, wiring wise.

 

I have 4 way flat just zip tied to hitch ball

 

I zip tie mine under the tongue. It’s a perfect fit. I also use the end cap of the harness at all times when not plugged in. I carry extra zip ties in the trunk.

 

Velcro to the bottom of the hitch.

Mines a bit different as I have a trike. Not too long ago, I had planned on doing something similar like my 07 had and attach a bracket and a 6 pin round connector under the left rear of my trike. CSC has a proprietary rectangular 8 pin connector but they offer a mating connector with leads to easily wire up just about any vehicle side trailer connector you want to use. So I went ahead and bought that mating connector. I finally got around to getting it done. Unfortunately, somehow the existing connector must have flapped around and then got stuck above the rear muffler chamber and below the fiberglass body. The heat partially melted the connector to the point that the mating connector would not plug in. So I switched gears and cut off that connector, drilled a small hole in floor of trunk and ran the wiring through there. I used some silicone sealer to fill in any gaps. Then I nervously cut a hole big enough to mount my 6 pin round connector. The wiring harness was just long enough to wire up the 6 pin round connector. I think it turned out rather well. It comes through just low enough into the trunk where it won't get bothered.
