What is it worth?

This is not a "FOR SALE" post. It is a, "What is it worth?" post.

I may be forced to sell my 2018 DCT Goldwing soon. (Only 19K miles) I am selling nearly everything in my shops and my home, and moving into a toy hauler to do a full time RV lifestyle. I LOVE my Wing, but even a toy hauler of the size I have purchased has weight limitations. Also, I think a small Honda scooter would be a more sensible "shuttle craft" for milk runs, etc.

My bike is beautiful. It has a lot of extras too. Traxxion Dynamics suspension. Passenger grab rails. Passenger truck arm rest extensions. Larger windshield. BLACK wheels and muffler covers. I also have the original chrome covers and the original silver wheels. Cell phone holder. Big A*S cup holder. Backrest. Trailer hitch. Passenger upper retractable foot pegs for alt. position comfort.

I also have a matching Escapade trailer that I will sell together, or separately.

This is killing me to sell my Wing, but I have to be practical. A bike that represents 25% of the load capacity of the trailer is NOT practical. Also, my aging body is making it more difficult to mount these past couple of years.

I have not decided to sell it just yet. This whole new chapter in my life is quite an adjustment! I am moving from a 10,000 sq.ft. "man cave" into a 120 sq.ft. toy hauler garage! I will take just a few of my favorite (and smaller) machines and tools with me, and do the arts and crafts stuff as the mood strikes me.

So ... What is it my Wing worth?

My new home in about four months... (Cue Willie Nelson ... "On The Road Again!" )

The AXIOM VENDETTA 4250SP.

I am going to pull it with something like this... I am shopping around now.

So you are selling all those 3D printers you bought at auction?

#3 ·
Yes! I am having a "Godfather's Salel!" Make me an offer I can't refuse!

I have sold four of the five large industrial 3D printers. I have the nearly new CreatBOT D600 PRO for sale still.

If someone comes here and buys ALL of the Da Vinci printers and parts and filament etc., it all comes with the shelving too!

Come and empty the basement of my FrankenBarn! Write one check. I CANNOT take this stuff with me, so it all GOES!

Bring four strong young men and a small boy to carry all of this stuff up one flight of stairs.

This is an APPROXIMATE list of what is down there. The Super 3D printers are all sold.

Since the Wing will only be in the toy hauler when it's moving, wouldn't it be worth it to keep it? If you are full timing it in the RV, I assume you will be parked the majority of the time with the bike parked outside. I have a 37' toy hauler and have a 1900 lb side by side or 2 touring bikes in the back routinely.

You have a really nice bike and trailer. It’s worth a lot more to someone who knows about the Goldwing line guys in the forum. The average Joe may not understand the importance and cost of things like the traxxion set up for example. I’m not an expert on pricing but $22,500 sounds right me. It also depends on location too.

Accessories don't add much to the value, unless you find the right buyer. Maybe 20% of what you paid for them, at best. The trailer? Well, we see similar trailers advertised for $1,500-$2,000 that take forever to sell, again, it is a limited market. NADA shows high book a tick over $19,000.

I agree with the other post. The bike alone is worth maybe $20,000 tops, realistically on a private sale, maybe as low as $18,000 The trailer, $1500-$2000, but if it doesn't sell with the bike it will be a hard sell.

I have looked at trailers and the one big deal that stops me is any I see for sale will need a repaint to match my bike, or maybe just paint it some neutral color. So I have the price of the trailer, plus paying someone to paint it. If I spent $2000 on a trailer I would want a professional paint job so even if I prepped it it would probably be another $500+.

Here’s two nice private sale bikes for sale in the Phoenix area for price comparisons. Not sure the mileage on yours. The Traxxion suspension will be an advantage to some and a disadvantage to some…. It will shrink your buyer pool.

Good luck with your sale and downsizing, that trailer looks like some kind of
Transformer Robot!
Sounds like you will have a lot more free time, I think you will miss your wing if you sell it. :(

Kelley Blue Book says $15,878 for the bike which is right about what I was thinking. I'm not sure about the value of the trailer, maybe $3k-$5k?!?! As someone stated above, you will not get you money back on accessories. Considering how soft the motorcycle market is right now it's doubtful you'll get top dollar. If I needed to get rid of them together, I'd probably price the combo at $20k.

That is the range I'm thinking as well. In my opinion it's not worth seling as he has such a beautiful toy hauler and truck to easily pull it. Sell the trailer and creatively pack the bike. It will be a PITA dealing with as you get older, but you won't have serious regrets from selling it.

The short answer to your title question is much less than what you have invested. Perhaps check the local zuckerforum marketplace and craigslist pages and see what the asking prices are. " Full Timing" is obviously a huge commitment. It would not be for me. Have you done anything similar to this? If not, I think I would keep my home base, and hit the road on a smaller scale to see if it's a life that suits you and your's. I guess I just hate to see anyone part with their Wing. I sincerely wish you well on your next chapter of life.

While full time RVing sounds romantic.....you sure you want to do that? I mean looking at the stuff you are selling tells me you have a few hobbies, what's going to fill that time? Try for a few months before you sell off everything.

Your "2018" GL even with all the extras, will likely bring something closer to $15K. It is a 2018, folks. Do price comparisons with that. An 8 year old bike, even in great shape, is STILL an 8 year old bike. MSRP was like $24K back then. Book and loan value will reflect that.

As far as the extra parts that are NOT on the bike, list them here, FB marketplace, and Craigs. Yes, it is a PITA and you'll get lowball offers, but it is better than throwing them away.

As someone who has been fulltiming since 2019, I am pretty much done with it and starting to look for a house. I think I know where I want to settle and am actively looking for a workamper job in that area. If I decide that area is not for me, I have a summer and winter place to park and will just drive between those locations for another year or 2 until I decide where I want to buy a house. I am not spending another $150K on another RV or $90K+ on a new truck, though my 2011 Denali dually is still running great.

As for the truck you're looking at, what about a Class 8 Volvo, or Freightliner, or other full size truck that is already setup to haul an RV and carry the Wing on the back of the truck behind the cab? They are out there, and no CDL is required because you are NOT hauling for pay. While it may be a commercial looking truck, it only looks that way. With that said, if you go with a Class 8 or a sport chassis like the pic above, consider how you're going to get groceries (I know, you said a smaller bike), or do sight seeing, or drive to a doctor appointment, etc. A long bed, crew cab dually may be more practical.

Whatever you decide, good luck.

Wow… your making a big change from the lifestyle your accustomed too… I, like many others know people who choose to go RV full time.…. they all have their stories, lessons learned, thoughts on rv configurations… and so forth. ….. good luck with your adventures.

I went down the YouTube rabbit hole of watching full time RVers. A lot of them go over their costs in detail - both monthly and maintenance. They talk about how they really only move around MAYBE once a month, but usually less often. They talk about what the RV parks are like - some better than others, but in most you'll have neighbors that you can't pick.

In the end I decided it wasn't for me. Living in home on wheels sounds good, but what happens when your home on wheels has to go in for service or repairs? An RV is a depreciating asset and it costs a lot of hotel rooms...a lot.

But that's not what you asked. Assuming you cut down from 900 lbs to 500 lbs worth of motorcycle. I can't think of a better way to allocate 400 lbs of "what brings be joy?" It's also recreation. On the days you're cooped up in the rolling castle you can set out on an all day adventure.

Good luck...even though I've mostly given up on the idea, for the last eight years or so when I look at a purchase I often ask "would this fit in my 'someday' RV lifestyle?"

It boggles my mind to see what people will accept when "RV Camping" Next town over, a big 200 + RV park was installed literally 200 ft from the interstate. Major connection from NYC to Boston with all night truck traffic.

Yet it's filled all season with "campers" 10 ft from the next "camper".

I guess it's what your used too.

Doesn't do much for me, but to each his own.

A buddy of mine bought a larger nice toy hauler, used if a couple seasons, decided it was way to much work and sold it.

You asked so here's my take. Are you going to price it to sell or what you think it's worth because they are not the same price. The used bike market is soft but you do have a nice set up.

Take a look at FB market place or cycle trader but remember to look for private party sales as your not going to get dealer prices.

GLWS and your new adventure.
