For those using My Radar, as well as Gas Buddy & Life 360, check your settings.

After this article was published, MyRadar sent a statement that it “does not collect and sell user information for the purpose of generating driving scores.” Arity subsequently confirmed that MyRadar data has not been “shared with any insurance company for any purpose

I used it every day on a recent 14 day 6K mile trip, and it worked flawlessly every day and was highly accurate. Maybe you just had a glitch or were out of cell phone reception. I checked it against the Zumo Weather data, and XM satellite weather data and it pretty much matched, but seemed to have a higher resolution than the other two. It's now my preferred go-to for weather radar.

Just remember, if you're out of cell phone tower range it won't display any weather data.

Came back to update my view about this app. TWICE now it has let me down by getting me into heavy rain downpours. The first was a few weeks ago when I rode nearly 8 miles in a downpour even though the app showed nothing. I had it up on my CarPlay screen and nothing was there.

Today, walking my dog, I checked the app and it showed no rain in my area. Half-way into the walk, it started POURING! I opened the app, and NOTHING. No clouds or any hint of rain within miles of me. Me and my dog had to walk 20 minutes back home while being showered in heavy rain. I opened my local news station’s weather app and it showed a massive cloud right over top of me. Lesson learned, check multiple sources.

I regret buying the Pro version to prevent ads. I am glad I did not subscribe to their premium service.

I have deleted this app from my iPhone and will stick to the built-in weather app on the iPhone and my local news station’s weather app (which is slam full of ads - the reason I wanted something else).

Are you sure you have access to cell phone towers? I took it on a 6K mile trip and it never missed a beat. Worked great the whole way. Maybe you have a messed up setting or some other issue. I've also not heard a single complaint about it from anyone else.

Your question about cell towers is a good one but I opened the WRAL weather app and it showed a rain cloud right over top of me. I would have expected it too to not show any data. But both apps loaded up and only the WRAL one showed rain over me. MyRadar Pro showed the flowing images all a few miles away. The time stamps at the bottom were current.

I have myradar pro on my iPhone. I am able to zoom up on my location on my phone but not using car play on on my Goldwing or my Ford F150… how do you zoom up on your location using carplay. I must be missing something.

Revised… I found the tiny little magnifying glass icons with the +/- symbols in them on the lower right side of the screen that performs this function. Just push the center button on the left handle bar and the icons appear for a short period of time.

If the above comment is true and the ACP does not allow animated updating then how do you keep refreshing it?
I can only comment on the Android version but MyRadar will refresh itself as new radar data becomes available (or you move). So maybe every 5 or 10 minutes. The lack of animation refers to the ability to display the last 30 minutes of weather movement (and future prediction) as a series of images played back as a little video. It won't do that on the bike's screen.
