I just loaded WeatherOnTheWay, and it does NOT show up in my available apps for CarPlay. Maybe I have to subscribe to the paid subscription service to see it on CarPlay??
erm... yeah - looks like you need the PRO version according to the Version History:

1.7.2
Nov 16, 2022
- CarPlay - Weather on the Way now supports CarPlay screens. You can see the weather radar, check the conditions and even navigate turn by turn. The conditions will automatically update based on your current location and speed. Note that this feature is still in progress, please let us know of any issues or missing features. Available for PRO users only.
Still - perhaps some people are willing to pay for that - not me ;-)

I wear rainproof clothing when I ride my motorcycle and that is necessary.

I just went out to the bike and connected the phone and started CarPlay, and WeatherOnTheWay shows up and I can indeed see the radar on the screen! However, when I look under the settings for CarPlay on the phone it doesn't show up for some reason.

I'm not sure if it will still show up after my free subscription runs out, however, it's only $29 a year, so it might actually be worth it if it works.

Here is what WeatherOnTheWay looks like on the bike. It shows up at the very end of my apps list on the CarPlay screens, and since I can't find it in my phone's CarPlay settings, I'm not able to move the apps location on the CarPlay screen, but at least it works.

Sort of.

Just out, it will display a map and the radar overlay but the radar overlay isn't in motion. So you have to hit the refresh button to update it and see how it is moving. It does keep you centered on the map as you drive a long

Weather & Radar

I'm using Android Auto and Waze, I clicked your link and installed this app on my phone and connected to the bike but I don't see it as an option on my Goldwing screen. Could you explain how to access it? Thanks.

You have to add it to your Android Auto menu. With your phone NOT hooked up to AA search your phone settings for Android Auto. Then hit Customise Launcher and make sure there is a check next to Weather&Radar.

Then hook the phone up. It does not overlay on top of Waze, or anything else. You have to hit the menu and start it.

Years ago I paid extra for real time radar on my garmin over XM. Even without cell service I could overlay current real time radar over my maps.
Seems like there’s either a legal hangup or someone wants $$$ for it.

Today I downloaded the Android App Weather Radar and installed it on my phone. After booting up AA on the wing the app was there and I clicked on it. It opens up a map that shows radar in my immediate area of either snow, rain and sleet. Kind of neat I guess. Of course navigating in AA on the wing is clumsy at best. But it does work

@Tonik , thanks a lot for finding the Weather & Radar app. I use it from time-to-time on AA when the weather looks iffy (being from northern Ohio, like you, it is "iffy" a lot).

I was using it today and wanted to move the map to the west to see what might be coming. I know I can use the "-" icon to zoom out, but what I wanted was to stay zoomed in a little and just move the map over. In the photo, I pressed enter on the left handlebar to make the four directional arrows around my location appear, but could not figure out how to "click" them. I tried the the up-down, left-right arrows on the left handlebar (both short-press and long-press), but nothing. Maybe this feature can't be operated without a touchscreen? Or am I missing something obvious?

Across the board, a number of the AA apps are a little finicky without a touch screen. Even with Maps, try some time to move to the right boarder, and select the zoom buttons to zoom out, then jump down one to the Move Circle. Good luck there. I've uncovered a number of these little gems that I have reported to Google, but they just point the finger right at Honda. Unfortunately, AA and CP are not waiting for Honda to get their crap together and are slowly leaving this audio system in the dust. I wonder what Honda is going to do when nothing works with this unit anymore?

Sirius weather works great :)

I use Sirius weather radar, but I don't like the fact that on a 2018+ it does not provide a moving view over time. I don't know how often it updates the screen, but it is probably every 5 or 10 minutes. With that limitation it does not easily show which direction storms are moving. Sirius weather is actually my goto weather radar, but if I need a moving radar display, I use my phone and my GPS to show the movement of storms.

Idk how often it updates either, but I know it is very accurate. I have used it to go from NY to Florida and in my opinion , it works great. I was right near the colored patches on the map and it showed exactly when I was at the patch. As mentioned previously, I don't see why you would need to see which way/how fast the storm is moving unless it's a fast moving tornado. I think the map updates frequently enough to tell you if you are going to get wet or not. The only ones to really worry about are the red patches. For everything else, there is gore tex or decent rain gear. My gear is goretex so I don't have to change. I just don't want a phone sitting on my handlebars. I know there is that weather and radar app in another thread, but it looks like it has some bugs that guys are complaining about right now (not being able to use the directional keys on AA, etc). Maybe one day, they will fix it.

I have to disagree with some of you. Moving radar is extremely helpful to me. Where I live, storms typically move in an eastward direction, but as with all weather, sometimes they are moving in completely different directions.

In simple home situations, like walking the dog, I can quickly look at the moving storms on the MyRadar app to see if there might be an opening soon to go outside and not get drenched.

On the motorcycle, you might be in an area where you are unfamiliar with the weather patterns, so looking at that 2-hour loop can really give you insight on which direction you should go in order to avoid the storm...or at least not riding through the roughest parts. MyRadar also shows you where lightning has been detected and roads that are still wet after a storm.
